NIAS Unison Branch

Changes to GRS

Colleagues:

You will, by now, be aware of restrictions imposed which limit your access to the GRS system.

This situation was raised immediately at the weekly Silver Command Trade Union Briefing Meeting. The management team in attendance were unaware of these changes and their potential impact.

Unison along with other TU colleagues have made it very clear that we object to any such changes being implemented without prior consultation and/or agreement.

We have informed Silver Command of the potential impact these changes may have in respect of staff morale, service delivery, Overtime management, Annual Leave management, changes of duty etc.

We have also requested an urgent meeting with the management team responsible for these changes to challenge this decision, challenge the tone and content of the associated correspondence with staff, which they felt was dictatorial and offensive, and to understand the rationale for them taking such action.

We also take this opportunity to remind our membership that we have fellow members who work within RMC. These members are no more responsible for this situation than our operational members and they should not be held accountable for the actions of senior managers. This was not their doing and they are simply following orders.

When we have our meeting with the senior management team concerned, we will update you again.
