1st May 2023
All members,
Over the May bank holiday weekend, the Trust unilaterally imposed changes that will have a detrimental impact on all operational staff. To be clear restrictions have been imposed on GRS removing access to the shift advance planner and daily posting sheets. Additionally, communications were issued regarding changes to annual leave, overtime and staff rostering without any form of consultation with the Trade Unions. There have also been changes imposed regarding emergency/carers leave impacting members’ pay. This is viewed as a clear breach in partnership working and an attempt to undermine previously agreed processes and procedures.
These actions demonstrate management’s total disregard for their staff, the terms and conditions of employment and partnership working with the Trade Unions.
Unison shop stewards and branch officials have been contacted by members throughout the entire bank holiday weekend seeking clarity and demanding action. The anger amongst members is palpable and we thank each and every one of you for ensuring your voice is heard.
Members can be assured that these actions have already been challenged in writing and we are demanding an urgent meeting at the highest levels within the Trust to address these acts of bad faith.
The branch is also conscious that we are currently in dispute with the Trust, industrial action is ongoing and this type of unilateral action has the potential to exacerbate the situation.
