To all UNISON members
UNISON supports all Trade Unions who are fighting for worker’s rights through lawful industrial action.
As of the 25th of October, a sister trade union will be escalating their Action Short of Strike Action (ASOS) which may have a detrimental impact on UNISON members.
Any UNISON member who is subject to a negative impact as a result of this escalation must report the incident immediately to both the Control Officer and their line manager. A Datix must also be completed at the earliest opportunity.
Additionally, this must be reported to your local shop steward and a text should be sent to the UNISON Branch Secretary on 07865044478 so that the information can be collated.
All information received will be assessed and may form the grounds for a Trade Dispute with the NIAS Trust due to discrimination by both individual managers and the NIAS Trust. This would be on the basis of discrimination of UNISON members due to Trade Union affiliation.
Examples of issues that members may experience: (this list is not exhaustive)
- – delayed meal break allocation
- – differential treatment in terms of meal break location
- – meal breaks allocated first based on trade union affiliation
- – additional emergency call allocation as result of other trade union members not accepting calls
- – 2nd meal breaks not allocated due to preferential treatment of other trade union members
- – additional late finishes due to preferential treatment of other trade union members
Be assured that UNISON will not accept less favourable treatment or discrimination as a result of the actions of other colleagues or the NIAS Trust. Your Branch Secretaries have already met with the Trust at Director level and your Regional Officers, UNISON’s Head of Bargaining and UNISON’s Regional Secretary are now involved.
You will receive a further update in the coming days.
